More than 170 years of Toledo confectionery tradition

History

The history dates back to 1850 with Pedro Ruiz Vázquez, great-great-grandfather of the current manager of Xocolalla and the first in the line of succession who began his career in the world of traditional confectionery in Toledo. The business was transferred to their children when they got married and formed their own family. For many years they developed their activity in La Mata (Toledo) and had the workshop inside their own home, which they transformed during the Christmas campaign.

Federico Ruiz, a great professional and passionate about this sector, left La Mata for training and in 1961 he graduated from the Professional School of Confectionery and Bakery in Barcelona, something exclusive at that time! Upon his return, he settled in Santa Olalla and began a long, hard and, at the same time, satisfying professional career.

Little by little, Federico, is transferring to his son Jose Antonio Ruiz Blanco all his knowledge and experience, Jose Antonio also made several monographic courses in food products and graduated in Business Management in 1988 by the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises. In 2000 and 2002 they traveled together to Italy and Switzerland respectively to learn from great master chocolatiers and decided to invest in new machinery for chocolates to enter this exciting world.

In 2021, after more than 170 years of Toledo confectionery tradition, Xocolalla is born in Santa Olalla, a company dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of chocolate products. which, despite automating certain processes, continues to focus its production on the quality of the raw materials used and their local origin. Our main objective is to satisfy the needs of our customers through continuous attention and product excellence.

In addition, in 2022, at Xocolalla we decided to do our bit to reduce our carbon footprint by making a large investment to install photovoltaic panels, thus betting on solar energy.
